    Inducted to the Hall of Fame: February 2020

    Born: February 25, 1949 in Rugby, N.D.
    High School: Graduated from Wolford (N.D.) High School, 1967.
    College: Graduated from Bottineau School of Forestry, 1969; Mayville State College, 1971; Attended grad school at North Dakota State University, receiving a degree in guidance and counseling.

    After stints at radio stations KMAV in Mayville and KXPO in Grafton, Halvorson was hired as sports director at KBTO in Bottineau when the station went on the air in November 1980 and has held the position ever since. He was named North Dakota Sportscaster of the Year in 1986. Halvorson continued his radio work while working as a school counselor from 1992-2014. He was recognized in March 2020 for 40 years of covering the Region 6 boys and girls basketball tournaments. Halvorson also was named North Dakota Outstanding Young Educator in guidance and counseling in 1997 and in 2020 was recipient of a Lions Foundation Melvin Jones Award.
