    Born: May 30, 1925 in Elbow Lake, Minn.
    Died: August 19, 1971 in Grand Forks, age 46.
    High School: Graduated from Willmar (Minn.) High School, 1943.
    College: Graduated from American Institute of the Air in Minneapolis.

    After working at Minnesota radio stations in Minneapolis, Moorhead, Fairmont and Thief River Falls, Tegtmeier joined KNOX radio in Grand Forks in 1960. He was part owner and sports director at the station until he died unexpectedly. Tegtmeier was named North Dakota sportscaster of the year five times (1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1970). He served two stints in the U.S. Navy, in the South Pacific during World War II and during the Korean War.
