Born: October 6, 1943 in Bismarck.
Died: March 17, 1997 in Phoenix, age 53.
High School: Graduated from Bismarck St. Mary's High School, 1961.
College: Graduated from University of North Dakota.

Tellmann spent two stints at the Grand Forks Herald between 1967 and 1974, writing in the sports department for approximately seven years. He also was a long-time host of radio sports talk shows in Grand Forks. Tellmann initially attended North Dakota State University out of high school on a football scholarship. He was a long-time sponsor and manager of the Grand Forks Red Pepper amateur basketball team that was a power at the state amateur basketball tournaments.
