    Died: December 22, 2009 in Fargo, age 73.
    High School: Graduated from Minot High School, 1954.
    College: Graduated from University of North Dakota, 1987.

    Christenson broadcast at stations in Minot, Pembina and Grand Forks before joining WDAY-TV and radio in Fargo in 1964. He was the radio voice of North Dakota State University sports from 1964 to 1978. In the late 1970s, he worked at Prairie Public Television and did play-by-play for UND hockey. His broadcasting career spanned more than five decades. Christenson received a Peabody award for his coverage of the 1997 Red River flood. He was a three-time recipient of the North Dakota sportscaster of the year award (1968, 1969, 1973). He was inducted into the NDSU Bison hall of fame in 1992. Christenson returned to UND later in his life to complete his college degree and, in 1987, graduated from UND along with his son, Mark.
